Indus Motor Company and House of Habib jointly initiated relief activities for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Charsadda, Mardan, and Peshawar.

When government of Pakistan initiated military action against Taliban insurgents in north-western Pakistan’s Swat valley and its neighbouring districts of Dir and Buner, more than 2 million people had to flee the area. In some cases, the exodus has been encouraged by the army to keep civilian casualties to a minimum.

IMC’s relief efforts rolled out in two phases were focused mostly in Mardan, with the assistance of Toyota Mardan Motors. In Phase-1, a container’s worth of food items, kitchen utensils, mats and plastic tubs were distributed. Two Hilux vehicles were also sent to assist in relief work, along with an additional Hilux converted Ambulance. Medical support services were provided by Toyota Capital Motors and Toyota Mardan Motors.

Phase-II of IMC’s relief effort involved the National Rural Support Program (NRSP), National Commission of Human Development (NCHD), local philanthropists and the Army. 500 packages of ration goods were sent to Toyota Mardan Motors for distribution to IDPs there. Also realizing the need of medical services to IDPs, one Hilux Ambulance, a 5 KV Power Generator and required medicines were handed over to NCHD. Also, provision of water was addressed by upgrading water connectivity in the Labor Camp, while Hilux vehicles carried water filling bowzers in various camps.
